About Us

The Blue Mountains has long been an artistic and bohemian centre. The region is home to some of Australia's finest landscape painters, sculptors, glassmakers, craftspeople and contemporary artists - many of whom are at Katoomba Fine Art and the Lost Bear Gallery.
The business comprises of two galleries; The main gallery, Katoomba Fine Art, and an annex in Leura, the Lost Bear Gallery. The mix is thoroughly eclectic, with each artist's originality and quality allowing for a cohesive look. It's anything but ordinary, with larger sculptures assembled from found objects by acclaimed mountains sculptor Ian Swift sure to stir imagination. The business represents approximately thirty artists, all established, but at different stages of their respective careers.
The Katoomba Fine Art gallery opened in 2001 and is located on Lurline street in Katoomba. A screaming white horse, by Ian Swift, stands proudly out the front of this grand mountains dwelling, that once served as a convalescing home and guest house. Following extensive renovations by the building's owner and director of Katoomba Fine Art, Geoff White, it has evolved into one of the Blue mountain's major attractions for art lovers and visitors alike.
The gallery itself contains 12 separate exhibiting spaces, with a large central space that plays host to regularly changing feature exhibitions.
April 2010 saw the opening of a new boutique space, which features a greater range of object based art and select wall pieces from the Katoomba Fine Art collection. A larger-than-life polar bear, created from steel and recycled plastic (Ian Swift), stands proudly as the star attraction at Leura’s appropriately ‘Lost Bear Gallery’. Located in the historic Leura Post Office building, this fine art gallery is home to a superb collection of paintings, sculpture and other collectable objects of art by a select group of Australian artists.
